Yaaaaawn. I am exhausted but I can't sleep.
As the thoughts of the play roamed through the whole capacity of my brain. “Hmmmm, I wonder what the weather will be like tomorrow?” Should I wear my pink or blue dress? Would the pink be too much? Too much Shakespeare, nothing is too much. “OK, OK, I will wear the pink. The pink with my navy shoes. Or should I wear my white ones: those would be more comfortable as I will be standing there for five hours. Five great hours! The five hours I have been waiting for since last March when I started saving money for my ticket when I heard Shakespeare was coming to town. Tomorrow will be the best five hours of my life. Ok I am going to bed now! Wait what if it rains, should I bring my clothes or would that be too much to carry?. OK ENOUGH, now I am going to bed.”
“Stancy wake up, there is much to do before your big event” Justin says in a frantic voice.
“Have I overslept? What time is it?” I reply as I shoot right out of bed.”
“Half past three” Justin screams across the room”.
“Oh my I have overslept” I say under my breath.”
I quickly change into my day clothes and shoes before I begin my tasks of the day. I am already behind; there is much to do! Milk the cow, cream the milk, collect the eggs, and iron my siblings' clothes. OH and mine - ‘ my Pink dress must be ironed, it must look good for the big day! I then ran outside to collect the eggs for breakfast.” “Oh what a beautiful day out, it's like the spirits did this for a reason” I whisper under my breath.
After I collected the eggs I quickly went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the family. I do most of the cooking and Mum does the cleaning.
“You excited for the big day”. Stacy?” Mum says as she folds the laundry.
“Oh Yes! My mind couldn't shut off last night. I barely got an ounce of sleep” I replied as I cracked the eggs in the pan.
“I am glad,” you shall come home and tell us all about it and maybe next year if we raise enough chickens at the market your PaPa and I can go” Mum says in an existing town of voice.
“Oh yes, I will be sure to come home and tell you everything” I replied.”
As the day went on I slowly knocked off at the chores on my list. As 4 oclock reached it was finally time to get ready. So I ironed my dress and polished my shoes. As well as made certain I smelt fresh and my hair was perfectly combed although Mum did help me with the braids. I am so grateful I am the first in the family to go to a play. Mum insisted on me going as I shall be off wedded this time next year.
“You look very well polished”, my dear” Mum said as she looked at me.”
“Thank You Mum” I replied as I walked out of the door.
Eventually I was off and on my way to the Globe. I was lucky it was only an hour walk from the village. Not to mention the weather was perfect, neither hot nor cold.
Finally I arrived. I gave my ticket to the man at the door and he directed me to walk straight ahead to what was a circular pit full of people standing,. “Who were surrounded with more people sitting in large groups that went up for three more stories. I then walked forward and joined the group of people standing in front of the stage. As I looked straight up to see the clear blue sky with pockets of clouds. This was unreal. This was better than I ever expected although it did smell a bit like sweat. I was still on cloud nine to be standing there. To my left stood an old man roughly about 50 in age dressed in all black with a hat on. To my right was a girl roughly about my age standing beside an older man to whom it looked like she was married to.
Pow! The sound it made as the bright white lights shone in my eyes. The play was about to start. I couldn't believe it! I was at one of Shakespeare's plays. Me,” Stacy Windfred,” was at a Shakespeare play. This was the best day of my life! As the night went on I continued to be shocked by how great it was. The actresses were beautiful and their costumes were so gorgeous” full of bright fabrics that looked like it took hours upon hours to make. Not to mention their voices so beautiful as it projected across the whole globe. Not to mention this was my favourite play, Romeo and Juliet. My dad has read the book too many times to count. I knew every line from the back of my head. The play was reaching the last few scenes and I didnt want it to end. Although it seems like the people two rows in front of me did as they kept on throwing tomatoes on the stage, which was a bit of a disappointment.
Finally the play ended; I waited for the majority of the people to leave so I didn't get trampled over. After I began my walk home still in shock from what I was just able to experience. I filled my parents in on everything that happened once I got home, finished up the rest of my chores and went to bed.
“UHH, “that really was the best day of my life!”
